Tips for Clearing up Bad Breakouts

Alright makeup lovers, this is a topic we are very familiar with. Being a dedicated makeup lover, I am always trying out new products. Rather it’s a new foundation or a new facial cleanser I am always on board for trying new things.  Well recently I got an awful breakout from a new product I was using. Now we all love to talk about products that work to keep our skin clear and beautiful, but what about products that helps clear things up in case we do have a bad reaction to trying something new? Well I have rounded up all the products that I used to help get my skin back on track.

For the first three days you should…
Start off with a good cleanser to help clean and calm the skin. I have been using the Aveeno Ulta Calming Foaming Cleaner.  This stuff always helps me through any ruff breakout. It is strong enough to remove all of the dirt and impurities on my face, but gentle enough that it won’t dry me out too bad. Please note that whenever you suffer a breakout like a rash or anything of that nature it will have to dry out before it gets better, so regardless of how “Non-Drying” a product claims to be it will still dry you out somehow and that is good.

Next you should tone you skin with a gentle yet effective toner. I used the Thayer’s Witch Hazel Rose Petal with Aloe Vera. This is a super gentle toner so it didn’t burn or further irritate my skin. Witch Hazel is good for skin flare ups, but can be drying sometimes, but I found that this one did everything I needed for my skin and didn’t make my skin feel tight and dry.

Lastly, get a good moisturizer that is strong enough to hydrate the skin without clogging already clogged pores. I use the CeraVe Renewing SALotion. I love this lotion because it helps exfoliate, soften, and smooth dry, bumpy skin but it moisturizes very well without clogging my pores.

After the first three days you should see the breakout start to clear up. If not, be patient; give your skin time to get back to normal.  Once you see progress begin to slowly implement you regular skin care routine.  Here are three extra tips that I found really help speed up my skins healing time.
1
.    Masks- in the first three days I used a calming mask from Formula 10.0.6 called KeepYour Cool Skin Calming Gel Mask. This this really helped with the itchiness and really just cooled my skin down. This mask is go gentle you can sleep with it on which I highly recommend.
2.    Serums- Once my skin started showing signs of improvement I began using a serum that helps with the texture of my skin. After any breakout my skin is extremely textured in some areas so I invested in a good serum. I use LancĂ´me’s Visionaire LR2412 4 % Cx Advance Skin Corrector. This is pricey but effective. Within a matter a days I already see a difference in my skins texture.
3.    Drink LOTS and LOTS of water! I already drink a lot of water on a regular basis, but I drink a little more when my skin is going through a breakout. I try to stay away from sodas and other drinks filled with sugar. I believe this does help as well.
Hope this helps someone J
