Hyped Up Products That Did Not Work For Me

In the makeup world we often rely on reviews and tips from one another regarding different makeup products to try.  There are times when some products receive a ton of hype but the real question is do they really work? I recently tried a few items that are receiving big hype in the makeup world, but unfortunately did not work out for me.
**DISCLAIMER: The products in this post are based on my personal experience with each product, some of these may be Holy Grail status but for me it did not work. **

Dr. Brandt Pore No More Primer: Everybody and their mama was raving about this primer. This primer claims to be an antibacterial primer that not only minimizes the look of pores, but it leaves a matte finish. This is also infused with skincare so is supposed to be good for your skin as well. I was extremely disappointed with this primer. It really sat on top of my skin and really enhanced the look of my dry patches. I know that this primer is mattifying, but I use a lot of mattifying primers that keep the oils away but do not cling to dry patches. Not only did this cling to every dry patch known to man, it really dried my skin out so bad I had to do a peel and a deep intense hydration mask to nourish my skin. This primer is $45 so I was super upset at the way it dried my skin out and at the price tag.

Mally Beauty Effortless Airbrush Highlighter & Blush Duo: Lately I have been a highlighter junkie, so when I saw this on a YouTuber’s snapchat I jumped in the car doing 90 on the highway to get to Ulta so I can buy this. There are two options for this product and the only thing that changes is the blush based off a few swatches at Ulta. I made up my mind that I didn’t really care about the blush I just wanted the highlight. This was said to be better than the Laura Geller Glided Honey highlight(which is my holy grail highlight) so when I heard that I was more than happy to pay $45 for this product. Well… while I am going to keep it because I do like it the finish, I find that this is hard to blend. I used this with the brush it came with (which is not that good either), a fan brush, a blush brush, and a small tampered brush and I still had a hard time blending it out. It does blend out eventually, but it takes a while. As for the blush I used a dab of it on my cheeks and it did not want to blend so I had to remove it from my face.

L'Oreal Infallible Foundation:  Now, for some of you guys this may be your Holy Grail foundation, BUT, for me this did not work. It wasn’t horrible, but I found myself not wanting to use this because of the way it sits on my skin. I am not a huge fan of L’Oréal’s foundation anyway, so this one is no different. It makes my skin look weird and unblended. A lot of YouTuber’s hype this product up but I do not think it works well…

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask: I haven’t had the pleasure of trying all of the masks from this line but I decided to go with this one because it seemed to be a good place to start. While this mask feels wonderful when applied to my skin, I did not notice much of a difference in my skin after using it. This is supposed to be a refreshing, hydrating mask but my skin does not feel any more hydrated or refreshed than before I applied it. If left on overnight I do feel a bit more hydrated but nothing worth the $52 dollar price tag.

Morphe 350 Palette: I HATE TO SAY THIS WITH ALL MY SOUL because I absolutely love Morphe, not only do they make quality products but at an affordable price. The 350 palette never is in stock and when it is, it sells out in like 3 seconds so it’s HIGHLY sought after. Well I was extremely excited when I got the chance to get my hands on this pallete. It is gorgeous with so many warm tones to offer I could die, BUT, I found that these eyeshadows are hard to blend. It does blend out, but it takes some work, more work than I am used to. I love the palette for its colors but however I do think it is a little over hyped due to me having to blend until my arms fall off to get this right. This  retails at $22.99.

Hope you guys find this post helpful…
