Toxic Relationships

I know this blog is all about beauty, but from time to time I will talk about life topics. It is fun to play around with makeup, but the best beauty comes from the happiness within. No amount of makeup can cover up an unhappy spirit. With that being said, every Monday I will try to post a topic on my blog that will encourage you guys. If you guys have any topics that you want me touch on let me know J

Hyped Up Products That Did Not Work For Me

In the makeup world we often rely on reviews and tips from one another regarding different makeup products to try.  There are times when some products receive a ton of hype but the real question is do they really work? I recently tried a few items that are receiving big hype in the makeup world, but unfortunately did not work out for me.
**DISCLAIMER: The products in this post are based on my personal experience with each product, some of these may be Holy Grail status but for me it did not work. **

3 Skincare Products That I Wanted To Love But...

You ever purchased a product that you really wanted to love but it just didn’t work for you some way or another? I know all of my beauty lovers can relate. Well… I have been trying out so many new skincare items, I decided to break them down by products that did what they were supposed to do but it just didn’t work for me.

Pacifica Glow Baby Youthful Facial Scrub: When I came across this at my favorite store EVER! (Target in case y'all didn’t know) I was super excited for some reason. I think it was because of the claims to purify the skin while giving a youthful glow. When I applied this to my face, it felt like i was scrubbing with a piece of sandpaper, it hurt so bad.  It did however give me a youthful glow and my skin felt refreshed but, the scrub was so abrasive I never want to use it again.

Pixi H20 Skindrink: I talked about this one in my Pixi Skintreat post. I loved this at first because it made my skin look and feel refreshed and moisturized, but this thing gave me the most severe rash of life! I feel like a creature from another planet right about now. I was not only sad about the rash on my face, but I was also sad because I really liked this product and wanted it to work for me.

Yes to Coconut Ultra Hydrating Facial SoufflĂ© Moisturizer: My skin has been drier than my DM’s lately so I decided to give this a go, and while I was hydrated to the highest extent of hydration, this stuff felt super heavy on my skin. It was so heavy on my skin I wanted wash my face again because it felt so heavy. I love the fact that I was hydrated to the tenth power, but it’s so heavy my skin felt greasy and dirty.

A Guide To Pixi's New Skintreats

I pretty sure by now you guys have seen the new Pixi Skintreats  in stores at Target, well I purchased most of everything from the line and I am ready to give you my honest opinion on the line.

Hydrating Milky Serum $24.00: This serum claims to be a hydrating serum that intensely hydrates the skin and improve elasticity. I LOVE this serum.  My skin has been extremely dry because of the weather and boy this helps me out big time. I find that my skin is a lot firmer and softer after I use this. If you have dry areas on your face or dry skin period you will love the serum.

Glow Mud Mask $22.00: This mask claims to be a purifying, glow revealing clay mask. It is said to clarify and brighten the skin. It has Kaolin & Sea Salt to purify the skin and ginseng to aloe to balance the skin. I find that this mask does brighten my skin and it is not overly drying. I recommend you only use this mask once a week and maybe once every other week if you have extreme dry skin.

H20 Skindrink $22.00: This is a super hydrating gel that claims to rejuvenate, cool, and refresh skin. I loved this stuff when I started using it. It is super hydrating and feels lightweight on the skin, my skin instantly felt refreshed after I applied it, BUT, this gave me the most severe rash on my face. I had the rash for about a week now and it is clearing up but slowly.
Glowtion Day Dew $22.00:  this one claims to be a lightweight, radiance boosting that soothes the skin while blurring imperfections and giving a glow.  I thought this one was OK, I wasn’t a fan of the tiny glitter specs, but it did hydrate a little. I don’t recommend using this under makeup, because you can see the glitter on your face.

24k Eye Elixir $22.00: This claim to be an eye serum that massages away puffiness and smooths and refreshes the eye area. I like this! I use it in the morning, and it really soothes my under eye and gets rid of those “I’m sleepy” bags under the eyes. I don’t think this is anything special. It doesn’t really help with the fine lines under my eyes, but it is effective for making my under eye feel more awake.

Nourishing Lip Polish $12.00: This is a lip exfoliate that is claimed to treat, renew and perfect the lips. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS!  This is probably my biggest success with this line. It comes with an applicator attached to that has rubber bristles that help get the dead skin off my lips. It does have a sweet taste and that is because it has sugar in it to help exfoliate the lips. I use this anytime my lips need an extra pick me up.

Hydrating Milky Mist $15.00: This is a lightweight mist that give a surge of hydration. It contains hyaluronic acid  and tons of other vitamins to moisturize the skin. You can use this as a moisturizer alone or a setting spray over or under makeup. I really enjoyed this. I carry it my purse to gives me a extra hydration if I get dry during the day. The spray bottle sprays out the products nice and evenly and it smells really good. Definitely a must have for the dry winter months.

Overall, I am impressed with this line. I did purchase more products but I haven’t had a chance to use them yet so I may do a updated post regarding those products. Let me know what you guys think about this line.

Xoxo

Real Techniques Brow Set Review

When I first heard this was coming out I was excited but I did not have any intentions to purchase. I was only interested in some of the brushes but not all, but when I saw this at Ulta last week I decided to purchase for review purposes.  Once I got this bad boy in use I loved it! This is a wonderfully made kit and for only $20 I am sold.

Here’s a breakdown on each brush:
**I used NYX Tame and Frame in the shade espresso as my brow product**

Angled Tweezer:  This is just a standard tweezer that is very durable and easy to grip. I did not use this one for my eyebrows, but it is nice quality.

Detailing Tweezer: even though I try not to tweeze my brows much I did use this to clean up the stray hairs around my brows and I love this! I haven’t owned a tweezer like this one before. It is precise and easy to use.

Slanted Brow Spoolie: Every makeup lover needs a good spoolie to get those brow hairs in check and this one does the job and does it well. It is firm but not hard or ruff if that makes sense. I do wish the spoolie was a little bit longer.

Slanted Arch Definer: According to the website the best way to use this brush is to use this to smudge your brow product into your brows for a more natural finish. I did use this with powder but I don’t see myself using this brush that often.

Slanted Brow Brush:  I used this brush to outline my brows and define the tail of my brow. I love this brush! It makes defining my brow a lot easier and helps my brow product go on smoothly.

All of these brushes are held inside of a white case. I love the fact that these brushes come with a case because it makes them good for travel and i wont have a brunch of tweezers and brushes floating around on my vanity.

Overall I am impressed with this kit. I feel like it is the perfect kit for  any makeup lover even if you are a beginner. I wish when I was beginning in makeup I had a kit like this to play with!

Will you guys be trying this kit out?

XOXO
