Danni’s New Drugstore Makeup Roundup

Well as many of you may know by now 2016 products have officially landed, and this year they are not holding back. Since there are so many new products coming out left and right I wanted to provide a guide for what’s hot and what’s not. First I want to address that some of these products have been out for some time but are part of the new releases for 2016.

Revlon:
Revlon has come out with an array of products... First I tried the ultimate all in one mascara and I must say I really enjoyed it. In the past I not had any good luck with Revlon’s mascaras so I was surprised I liked this one so much. If you are like me and your lashes lack a little bit everything than you need this mascara. It not only provides length, but it gives decent volume and holds up great during the day. This retails for about $8.99 and can be found at most drugstores.
The second mascara I tried is the Dramatic Definition Mascara. I picked this one up at Walgreens and I LOVE this mascara. It reminds me of the Maybelline Falsies mascara but clumps less. I found that this makes my lashes look long and full while adding a bit of curl as well. This mascara also works wonderful for my bottom eyelashes which is a something I rarely find.  This retails for around $8.99 as well and can be found at Walgreens. There are many other types of mascara to choose from in this line so I am sure everyone can find something for their lashes. I do think this are worth a try and can be Holy Grail status for many.
Revlon Ultra HD Matter Lip Color:
These have been out for a while now, but I wanted to include them in the new releases since they are everywhere now. These as many know by now don’t really dry matte, but are pretty nice on the lips. If you are into lip stains then go for these, but if you are looking a true liquid or creme matte lipstick then these are not it. I do think they are good for everyday wear so I think they are worth a try. These retail for around $7-9 dollars and can be found at any local drugstore that carries Revlon.

Maybelline:
Now they have really come hard with their new launches. They have released so many new products its super hard to know what to try.
Vivid Matte Lipsticks:
So when I heard about these a few months ago I couldn’t wait for them to drop. Well, I have to say I am disappointed with these. So the color selection is good, but the sizes of these are super small. You can get a large tube of liquid lipsticks from ColourPop for $6, but these are $8.99 and are tiny for the price.  Once I applied these to my lips it goes on patchy. It hard to apply full color because it skips and then it take a long time to dry. I think you can skip out on these even if your inner lippie junkie says not too.

Master Fix Wear-Boosting Setting Spray:
I will admit, when it comes to setting sprays I often forget to use them, plus I have a issue with spray a mist over my face… Well I must say if you are looking for a good wear boosting setting spray then get this one. I know L’Oréal has there Infallible one, but I didn’t like that one too much. I didn’t have high hopes for this product but I must say my makeup does not break down as much when I am wearing this. I usually see my foundation break down around my nose and chin area but not with this. It does not keep the oiliness away nor does it claim too, so you will need to keep a touch up product with you. This retails for around $12 and can be found at CVS.
Face Studio Master Contour Compact:
When I saw this I did not want to buy it, but for review purposes I gave it a go. Well this compact comes with a contour, blush, and highlight. They only have two choices light to medium and medium to dark. I picked up medium to dark and right away I knew the contour shade was not going to work for me, it was too light. So I tried the blush and the highlight and I am not impressed. When I first applied it the highlight had be shinning like a diamond honey! Then about 30 mins into wear I noticed that the color of the highlight was still there but the sheen had gone away. I even applied a little more before I left to run errands and still the weird color was there. I never experienced something l like this so I knew this was not going to work for me. Overall, they do apply nicely but the wear of these is awful. These retail for around $13 dollars and can be found at CVS and Drugstore.Com

L’Oréal:
I see that L’Oréal got word about Maybelline’s new release and decided to come on with it this time around. I am usually not much of a fan of L’Oréal products but I must say I like a few products from this launch.
L’Oréal Pro Matte Lip Gloss:
These already came out last year as a “limited edition” product but L’Oréal decided to make them permanent this time around. What I was most disappointed about in this line is the lack of diversity. I feel like it is a pretty basic selection of colors.  I did enjoy these despite the lack of colors. I found that these are not truly matte but not glossy either. I liked how comfortable they are and the fact that they don’t smudge everywhere. These are not super long wearing but they do last for a couple of hours before you begin to see them wear off. These are now at CVS and Walgreens and retails for around $8 or $9 dollars.
L’Oréal Infallible Pro Contour Kit:
Much like the Maybelline one I already knew that the contour shade would not be dark enough for me, Now for the highlight shade, it was a tad bit too dark for my liking but I used it anyway. This gives a subtle glow, nothing too major and sometimes I like that. The most downside of this product and which makes it a no for me is the fact that the highlight does not last long on the skin. I noticed it begin to fade within an hour of wear.  This retails for around $12 or $13 dollars which is quite pricey for something that doesn’t really wear well. I don’t recommend this product.
L’Oréal Dual Ended Brow Stylist:
Now if you are like me and love a good natural defined brow then get your debit cards ready because I believe L’Oréal has accomplished it. These are so good I ran out and brought another one just for backup. I swear by this product, I have loved my brows since I started using this. If you like the NYX or ABH brow pencils then you will love these. I didn’t care for the NYX or ABH brow pencils because they were a bit dry and hard to deal with for me. These are dry but yet a little creamy which make it easy to define the brow. The fact that it is so tiny makes it even better because it helps with mimicking each hair for precise definition. These retail at $8 or $9 dollars and can be found at CVS.
L’Oréal Brow Stylist Prep & Shape Pro Kit:
This product contains a brow wax, brow powder, mini tweezer, and a mini spoolie with a angled brush. Despite the many tools that you get in this kit it did not wow me. I brought the darkest shade and it still was extremely too light for me and the wax was not pigmented at all. The brow powder is a bit too gray so that did not work either. I do appreciate the mini tweezers which makes grooming the brow much easier but for $14-15 dollars I am not sold. You can definitely skip on this one.
Kleenex:
If you didn’t know now you know. Kleenex makes skin care products, and they are not bad.

Makeup Removing Wipes:
One of the best things about this is the packaging. All of them are reusable it comes in a hard plastic container which makes wonderful and it can be reused. The refillable packs are a lot cheaper so you can continue to fill them up as you go. I loved these wipes. They are thick so really only need need one to remove all of your makeup. It does not burn your eyes so it is safe to use around the eyes and removed water proof or long wearing makeup very well. Highly recommend these wipes for people who wear heavy glam or just likes quick removal of makeup each night. These retail for $8 dollars and can be found online at the Kleenex Store (click link)

Exfoliating Pads:
I was so interested in these that I quickly added them to my cart. I am into anything that claims to exfoliate the skin. These are water activated so they have a cleanser inside of them. The pad has two sides a smoother side and a really rough side which contains they cleanser. This was really rough on my face, while it did a wonderful job exfoliating my face it wasn't  the most pleasant feeling. I recommend you only use this once a week. If you have very sensitive skin then I don’t recommend you use this product. I like it but then again I don’t know if I would repurchase it. This retails for $7.99 and can be found online at the Kleenex Store
I hope this helps guide you through the good and bad of all the new releases. Stay tuned for more products!
Xoxo
