The Good & The Bad Of 2015: FACE Products

Can you guys believe 2015 is pretty much over?!?  It’s like we turned our heads for a second and then BOOM 2016 is staring at us from down the street! Well, since new products are dropping left and right for the launch of 2016 I decided to do a wrap up of the good and the bad beauty wise. To avoid a ten thousand page post I decided to focus on face products first.  Not everything in this post came out in 2015 but this is just some stuff I tried this year.

The Good

Foundations:
  1. 1.       Black Opal True Color Foundation:  Man oh man, this is such a good foundation! Although it is not quite as matte as it claims to be, it is definitely my top fav foundation of 2015. It is skin-like but has great coverage, easy to blend, lasts all day and it just looks gorgeous on the skin. Oh let’s not forget this foundation is super affordable. Definitely a must have in my book.

  1. 2.      Maybelline Matte + Poreless:  Although the color selection was not the best at first I still liked this foundation a lot. It lasts for a while on the skin and not to mention it is really matte and pore less.  I just love the way this blurs out imperfections. They recently came out with more shades (Click here for shade details) so I know this foundation will continue to be a hit in 2016.

  1. 3.      Circa Color Balance Liquid Foundation: I adore this foundation, it at one point this was the only foundation I reached for. It is a more natural finish and it is more medium to full coverage. This provides a nice glow to the skin and last all day and is very easy to blend. The color selection isn’t very good but I still love the way the foundation looks. The best thing I like about this foundation is it gives a glow without exaggerating the textured areas of my skin.

  1. 4.      Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation: This year MUFE reformulated their HD foundations. I usually don’t purchase high end foundations because I have so many affordable ones that work well, but with this one I had to have it.  I must admit I don’t really care for the dewy finish but I do love the coverage and the overall appearance.  This foundation blurs out every little pore and fine line for even perfect coverage. While it is a bit expensive it is totally worth it.

Primers:
1.       Garnier Skin Renew 5 Second Blur Instant Smoother: At first most people may think this is only a skin care product since it can be only found on the skin care aisle, but no this is a wonderful primer that I discovered in 2015. It is a primer that smooths the skin for a nice

2.      Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer: In the past I always stayed away from this primer because of my oily combo skin, but this year I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you this primer blew me away. My skin sometimes goes through dry spells and this is when this primer came in handy.  It leaves a nice healthy glow. It does not make my makeup too dewy; it just makes it look healthy. I even used it when I wasn’t  wearing any makeup and it still gave my skin a healthy glow. It is in the high end range but it is totally worth it.

3.      Nivea Post Shave Balm: I tried this out this year and loved it!  It may sound weird to most people but this stuff is bomb. It does not control oil, but it is great for extending the wear of makeup which is always a good thing. This thing is better than most primers when it comes to holding makeup in place. Since it is super affordable and easy to find I highly recommend this.

Concealers:

1.       Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer: In the past I wanted to try this out so bad but the price tag also made me go “Nah I don’t need it” so one day I was in Sephora and decided to give it a go and I LOVE IT. This is my official Holy Grail concealer. It is smooth, creamy, easy to blend and most of all it smooth over the fine lines under my eye. I try not to use it every day since it is $30 bucks but it is great!

2.      Maybelline Better Skin Concealer: Now this product came out this year and it is absolutely wonderful.  It kind of reminds me of the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer (DUPE ALERT) but not as thick. It covers my fine lines and is easy to blend. Highly recommend you guys give it a try in 2016.

3.      Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer: After I swatched this in Ulta this year I knew I had to have it. I love it because it is super lightweight under my eyes but yet super effective. The price tag may seem a bit steep for my drugstore lovers but trust me it’s worth it.
Powders:

1.       Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous Powder Foundation: Ignore the fact that they call this powder foundation because the coverage is so light I would not use it as such, but it is a AMAZING pressed powder!!!! I have repurchased this over and over again this year because of how well it mattifies my skin but in a nice way.
2.      Circa Face Time Pressed Powder:  I love this powder.  This is a powder that gives off a natural finish. I can use this to set any foundation and it will look fab for most of the day!

3.      BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Tinted HD Powder: This powder is EVERYTHING you need in a loose powder. It just sets the foundation or concealer so well while perfecting the skin. It is awesome with any foundation and super affordable. Most defiantly a awesome product.

Highlighters:
1.       Wet ‘N’ Wild Fergie Shimmer Palette (Hollywood Boulevard): I have tried these shimmer palettes in the past and I must admit I want too impressed. Then Hollywood Boulevard came out and I was so surprised by the texture and pigmentation. This is a super affordable highlight and comes with tons of product. I am not too crazy about the other shades but this shade is awesome and defiantly feels like high end quality.

2.      ColourPop Highlights (Electric Slide &Parasol): Man overall I think ColourPop is my favorite brand for 2015. They killed everything this year and these highlighters were not exception.  I love the finish these babies give off and they last a long time on the skin which is always a good thing. The best part about these is the fact that they have so many shades to choose from but Electric Slide and Parasol are my favs!

3.      Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator (Gilded Honey):  I always avoided this one because of the price, but this year I decided to give it a try, and I LOVE IT! I love it so much I brought a backup since it is always sold out. Out of all the highlighters I have tried this year this one is my favorite. It gives off a beautiful glow and a little goes a long way so this baby will last for a while.

THE BAD
·         Covergirl Outlast Luminous Lasting Foundation: I wanted to like this so much but it just didn’t work for me. If you have texture issue or large pores like I do then run far, far, far away from this because it will emphasize EVERY bad thing on your skin. If your skin is smooth and flawless then you may disagree.

·         L’Oréal Infallible Pro Matte Powder: This one was a HUGE NO for me. This powder made my skin look like milk chocolate chalk. Safe to say I do not own this anymore.

·         L’Oréal True Match Lumi Powder: Another BIG NO for me. This thing was super chunky and had weird glitter flakes. It did nothing good for my skin at all.

·         NYX HD Primer: I have no clue what made me buy this product besides the fact that I am a primer junkie, but this did not work for me. It gave a white cast to my skin that I could not cover up even with my foundation; I just looked ashy the whole day.

·         L’Oréal Infallible Setting Spray: I had a lot of fails this year with L’Oréal, and I had such I high hopes for this one but it had to be a no. This made my skin itch so bad when first applied it that I just had to avoid it. I did not see a difference in the wear of my makeup as well.

That’s it for now guys. Stay tuned for the next post on eye products…

Danni’s Soap & Glory Must Haves

Since Soap & Glory came to Ulta I have been dabbing into the brand here and there. I finally rounded up a few products that I feel like are must haves!

Heel Genius: This stuff has been a miracle for my dry heels. I have extremely dry heels, and sometimes they crack because of it. I typically have to get a pedicure every two weeks because of my heels being so dry. Ever since I started using this product I seriously can go almost a month without getting a pedicure! This thing has saved me so much money.  It makes my feet feel smooth and keeps them hydrated. After I shower I use this and sometimes put socks on to let the product soak into my feet.  This retails for $10.

The Righteous Butter Lotion: I am not a big fan of body butters so when I saw they had a lotion version of the Righteous Body Butter with the signature pink scent I jumped on it. This stuff is EVERYTHING! It makes my skin super soft and the smell is to die for. I love the signature pink scent smell so I am sold on this. This retails for $12 and lasts for a while.
Soap & Glory Hand Food: Man this stuff is like a miracle in a bottle. The scent is AMAZING and it really softens my hands! I always like to have my hands feeling soft and smooth and this makes that happen. The full size bottle retails for $8 but I do prefer the smaller travel size for on the go travel.

Flake Away Body Scrub: Since I love the pink scent if you can’t tell by now, I had to have a body scrub that had that scent. I was not a fan of the other scents and the Scrub of Your Life did not wow me like I thought it would, so when I found this one I was excited. It comes in a large jar container and has enough grains in it to really exfoliate the skin. My skin feels super soft and smooth after using this. This retails for $15.

Clean on Me Clarifying Shower Gel: It has their signature pink scent and not only cleanses but softens my skin. A little goes a long way so be careful not to pump out too much but it doesn’t hurt to have extra. This retails for $10.

That's it for now. I hope this helps when figuring out what to try in this brand.

Danni’s New Drugstore Makeup Roundup

Well as many of you may know by now 2016 products have officially landed, and this year they are not holding back. Since there are so many new products coming out left and right I wanted to provide a guide for what’s hot and what’s not. First I want to address that some of these products have been out for some time but are part of the new releases for 2016.

Revlon:
Revlon has come out with an array of products... First I tried the ultimate all in one mascara and I must say I really enjoyed it. In the past I not had any good luck with Revlon’s mascaras so I was surprised I liked this one so much. If you are like me and your lashes lack a little bit everything than you need this mascara. It not only provides length, but it gives decent volume and holds up great during the day. This retails for about $8.99 and can be found at most drugstores.
The second mascara I tried is the Dramatic Definition Mascara. I picked this one up at Walgreens and I LOVE this mascara. It reminds me of the Maybelline Falsies mascara but clumps less. I found that this makes my lashes look long and full while adding a bit of curl as well. This mascara also works wonderful for my bottom eyelashes which is a something I rarely find.  This retails for around $8.99 as well and can be found at Walgreens. There are many other types of mascara to choose from in this line so I am sure everyone can find something for their lashes. I do think this are worth a try and can be Holy Grail status for many.
Revlon Ultra HD Matter Lip Color:
These have been out for a while now, but I wanted to include them in the new releases since they are everywhere now. These as many know by now don’t really dry matte, but are pretty nice on the lips. If you are into lip stains then go for these, but if you are looking a true liquid or creme matte lipstick then these are not it. I do think they are good for everyday wear so I think they are worth a try. These retail for around $7-9 dollars and can be found at any local drugstore that carries Revlon.

Maybelline:
Now they have really come hard with their new launches. They have released so many new products its super hard to know what to try.
Vivid Matte Lipsticks:
So when I heard about these a few months ago I couldn’t wait for them to drop. Well, I have to say I am disappointed with these. So the color selection is good, but the sizes of these are super small. You can get a large tube of liquid lipsticks from ColourPop for $6, but these are $8.99 and are tiny for the price.  Once I applied these to my lips it goes on patchy. It hard to apply full color because it skips and then it take a long time to dry. I think you can skip out on these even if your inner lippie junkie says not too.

Master Fix Wear-Boosting Setting Spray:
I will admit, when it comes to setting sprays I often forget to use them, plus I have a issue with spray a mist over my face… Well I must say if you are looking for a good wear boosting setting spray then get this one. I know L’Oréal has there Infallible one, but I didn’t like that one too much. I didn’t have high hopes for this product but I must say my makeup does not break down as much when I am wearing this. I usually see my foundation break down around my nose and chin area but not with this. It does not keep the oiliness away nor does it claim too, so you will need to keep a touch up product with you. This retails for around $12 and can be found at CVS.
Face Studio Master Contour Compact:
When I saw this I did not want to buy it, but for review purposes I gave it a go. Well this compact comes with a contour, blush, and highlight. They only have two choices light to medium and medium to dark. I picked up medium to dark and right away I knew the contour shade was not going to work for me, it was too light. So I tried the blush and the highlight and I am not impressed. When I first applied it the highlight had be shinning like a diamond honey! Then about 30 mins into wear I noticed that the color of the highlight was still there but the sheen had gone away. I even applied a little more before I left to run errands and still the weird color was there. I never experienced something l like this so I knew this was not going to work for me. Overall, they do apply nicely but the wear of these is awful. These retail for around $13 dollars and can be found at CVS and Drugstore.Com

L’Oréal:
I see that L’Oréal got word about Maybelline’s new release and decided to come on with it this time around. I am usually not much of a fan of L’Oréal products but I must say I like a few products from this launch.
L’Oréal Pro Matte Lip Gloss:
These already came out last year as a “limited edition” product but L’Oréal decided to make them permanent this time around. What I was most disappointed about in this line is the lack of diversity. I feel like it is a pretty basic selection of colors.  I did enjoy these despite the lack of colors. I found that these are not truly matte but not glossy either. I liked how comfortable they are and the fact that they don’t smudge everywhere. These are not super long wearing but they do last for a couple of hours before you begin to see them wear off. These are now at CVS and Walgreens and retails for around $8 or $9 dollars.
L’Oréal Infallible Pro Contour Kit:
Much like the Maybelline one I already knew that the contour shade would not be dark enough for me, Now for the highlight shade, it was a tad bit too dark for my liking but I used it anyway. This gives a subtle glow, nothing too major and sometimes I like that. The most downside of this product and which makes it a no for me is the fact that the highlight does not last long on the skin. I noticed it begin to fade within an hour of wear.  This retails for around $12 or $13 dollars which is quite pricey for something that doesn’t really wear well. I don’t recommend this product.
L’Oréal Dual Ended Brow Stylist:
Now if you are like me and love a good natural defined brow then get your debit cards ready because I believe L’Oréal has accomplished it. These are so good I ran out and brought another one just for backup. I swear by this product, I have loved my brows since I started using this. If you like the NYX or ABH brow pencils then you will love these. I didn’t care for the NYX or ABH brow pencils because they were a bit dry and hard to deal with for me. These are dry but yet a little creamy which make it easy to define the brow. The fact that it is so tiny makes it even better because it helps with mimicking each hair for precise definition. These retail at $8 or $9 dollars and can be found at CVS.
L’Oréal Brow Stylist Prep & Shape Pro Kit:
This product contains a brow wax, brow powder, mini tweezer, and a mini spoolie with a angled brush. Despite the many tools that you get in this kit it did not wow me. I brought the darkest shade and it still was extremely too light for me and the wax was not pigmented at all. The brow powder is a bit too gray so that did not work either. I do appreciate the mini tweezers which makes grooming the brow much easier but for $14-15 dollars I am not sold. You can definitely skip on this one.
Kleenex:
If you didn’t know now you know. Kleenex makes skin care products, and they are not bad.

Makeup Removing Wipes:
One of the best things about this is the packaging. All of them are reusable it comes in a hard plastic container which makes wonderful and it can be reused. The refillable packs are a lot cheaper so you can continue to fill them up as you go. I loved these wipes. They are thick so really only need need one to remove all of your makeup. It does not burn your eyes so it is safe to use around the eyes and removed water proof or long wearing makeup very well. Highly recommend these wipes for people who wear heavy glam or just likes quick removal of makeup each night. These retail for $8 dollars and can be found online at the Kleenex Store (click link)

Exfoliating Pads:
I was so interested in these that I quickly added them to my cart. I am into anything that claims to exfoliate the skin. These are water activated so they have a cleanser inside of them. The pad has two sides a smoother side and a really rough side which contains they cleanser. This was really rough on my face, while it did a wonderful job exfoliating my face it wasn't  the most pleasant feeling. I recommend you only use this once a week. If you have very sensitive skin then I don’t recommend you use this product. I like it but then again I don’t know if I would repurchase it. This retails for $7.99 and can be found online at the Kleenex Store
I hope this helps guide you through the good and bad of all the new releases. Stay tuned for more products!

L'Oreal Dual Ended Brow Stylist Definer REVIEW

HOLD YA WALLETS, 2016 DRUGSTORE PRODUCTS ARE HERE!

This is the L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer. I was super excited because I am a junkie for eyebrow products. It is rare to see double ended brow pencils in the drugstore so when I saw this I knew I had to have it.

Ready? Lets go!

THE CLAIMS:

-Waterproof
-Ultra fine tip helps recreate tiny brow hair for precise brow looks
-Spoolie helps blend out brows for a more defined look

First the packaging is EVERYTHING. I live for any brow product that comes with a spoolie because I often loose them, so with it being connected to the product is a plus for me. There are three shades to choose from in this line blonde, brunette and dark brunette I chose dark brunette since I have dark brown hair. I love the way this product makes my brows look. I am a huge fan of natural looking brows and this product makes accomplishing that look much easier. The pencil is so small that I can really get close and mimic the hair of my brows. It is creamy but yet kind of dry, which is good for people who have a hard time with control while defining their brows. My brows lasted all day and did not move at all. I purposely did not set my brows just to see how this hold and it held up pretty well. I like this much more than I liked the NYX Micro Pencil and even the ABH Brow Wiz. If you love natural brows then go grab this product. I found this at CVS, but if you live in a area that is slow with getting new products then click the link above and order it online. It retails for $8.99.

Hope this helps :)

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss REVIEW

These bad boys came and went so fast last year that I didn't get a chance to try . So L'Oreal bought them back I knew I had to grab them.

I wasn't too thrilled about the color choices so I only picked up two colors. I got 310 Forbidden Kiss and 316 Statement Nude.

I must say I like these lippies. They are not a ultra matte finish but feel more like a cream matte lipstick. They only last about 4 hours before you will need to apply a fresh coat. The smell on these are much like the L'Oreal lipstick which I know many people are not fond of, but it does wear off quickly.

I don't see this as a must have, but I do think these are good enough to give a try. They are super comfortable on the lips which makes it great for everyday wear. These retail for $8.99 and can be found at CVS. (They are now permanent)

NUGG Face Mask Review

So, I have been super curious about these little NUGG face mask pods. They retail for $3.29 at Target. I recently tried the exfoliating mask and wanted to give you guys my opinion.

First,

I was a little turned off by the size of the product. For $3.29 it felt a little bit pricey for 0.33fl oz. but I gave it a go.

The directions say to massage the product onto your skin for 30 seconds and then leave it on for five minutes then rinse.

I must say my skin did feel a little softer after using this. I felt like all of the dead skin cells where gone and my face felt refreshed and looked bright. For this to be a small pod I found that I still had a few more uses left in the pod.

However,
The packaging is what really turned me off. I found that this is hard to close up after using and will dry out if left open(which is what happen to me). So I will not be repurchasing this product for this exact reason. If they were to come out with a new packaging I would be all over this.

Maybelline Master Fix Wear-Boosting Setting Spray REVIEW

I almost jumped when I found these at CVS this weekend. This is part of Maybelline's Winter 2016 release. There are a ton of new products that will be reviewed here this week.

NOW LET'S DO THIS!!!!

Maybelline Master Fix:

Claims to be a wear boosting setting spray that locks in fresh applied makeup. I used this and found that this stuff really extends the wear of my makeup. My foundation usually breaks up around my nose and mouth area first and I found that with this spray my makeup stayed in place and did not break up around more nose or mouth area. It is very lightweight and the spray bottle did not spritz out too much product which is always a good thing.

Now how does this compare with L'Oreal's setting spray? If I had to choose one I would pick the Maybelline Master Fix over the L'Oreal Pro Setting Spray. Why? Well whenever I use the L'Oreal spray my face tends to itch, now this does not last all day but it can be uncomfortable for me. I found that the L'Oreal spray did not extend the wear of my makeup, but my makeup does not move either. The L'Oreal spray is $12.99 while the Maybelline Master Fix is $11.69(Drugstore.Com). I hope this helps you guys figure out if this is worth trying.

This is a new release from Maybelline so stay on the look out or click the link and start shopping now :)

Happy hunting guys!

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water REVIEW

I have used this enough to get a good feel about it.

This is the not so new Garnier Micellar Water. It has been available in the UK for some time now and just landed in the US last month,

I was so excited to try this out because of the awesome reviews I read.

Now, lets get to the meats and potatoes...

Pros:

-Removes all makeup(the blue bottle removes waterproof makeup) There is a pink one but it did not say anything about removing waterproof makeup.
-Skin doesn't feel dry, <My sking felt super soft and hydrated
-Packaging is wonderful, the top does not shoot out a bunch of product.
-A good amount of product for the price. This gem comes in a 13.5 oz bottle so that makes it well worth $8.99.

Cons:
-Large bottle makes it hard to store

I have nothing but good things to say about this product. It is way better than the Simple Micellar water, however it is just a tad bit more expensive but you get way more product.

This is definitely a holy grail product for me.

Dry Skin? No Problem

Hi guys,

Don't ya just love winter. The lights, the snow, the overwhelming festivities! One thing for sure dry skin is not fun for anyone. While I currently reside in Florida and winter seems to be taking a vacation this year, I do understand how dry and flaky skin can get during this time. So I rounded up some of my favorite products for winter and I hope you get some use of them.

First, we want to keep that face moisturized!

For cleanser, I found that this Neutrogena's Purifying Cream Cleanser is not only very effective when removing makeup and dirt, but is always super hydrating too. This cleanser is from there naturals line so it does not contain harsh chemicals that can be irritating for some skin types.

It is highly important to keep the face moisturized during the winter. The CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion is EVERYTHING. This is my holy grail moisturizer. It contains ceramides and hyaluronic acid which helps keep everything moisturized and youthful.

If you suffer from severe dry skin, then facial oils should be your best friend. Tarte Maracuja Oil is the perfect cure for dry skin. I like to mix this in with a light moisturizer and apply it to my face. I do have oily combo skin so I only use this at night. It is quite pricey but, a small bottle lasst a long time since one drop goes a long way.

It is essential during the winter to have a good facial spray to give your skin a quick refresher. Mario Badescu Facial Spay With Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater is a lifesaver. Just two quick pumps and you are hydrated and ready to go. This also works if you are going for a clean dewy look.

Now on to body. Usually we spend so much time on makeup that we forget to give the rest of our body a little TLC during the winter as well. Lotion is a essential year round, but is highly important during the winter months. Nivea's Cocoa Butter Body Lotion is perfect for this time of year. I love it because it is not super thick, easy to rub in, and, most of all hydrating. I am not a huge fan of cocoa butter scent, but this one is not as strong and has a more fresh, light scent. I love this stuff.
Don'f forget about those feet! I have severe dry feet year round, so winter does not make it any better. I found that Soap&Glory's Heel Genius is the best foot cream I have ever used. My feet look and feel soft after applying this. I have also noticed that I do not have as much peeling since using this product. Definitely a must have for the winter season.

I hope you guys found this helpful. These are just a few of my recommendations for winter. Let me know some of your essentials down below :)

Until next time,

xoxo

E.L.F Artistry Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi Guys,

I finally had the chance to try out this palette. I got this when I did a mini E.L.F haul a few weeks ago. I mainly was interested in this palette because it reminds me so much of Urban Decay's Vice Palettes with the packaging.

This palette retails for $20.00 and is exclusively online(Click Here).

The first thing that I loved about this palette was the fact that it came with a bag.

This is a decent bag that can either hold the palette or you can use this as a makeup bag when traveling. Either way it is good quality with a basic design.

Now, for the main course :)

Once I opened up the palette I noticed the jewel tone shades and some unique shades that I do not see too often in drugstore/affordable shadows.

First Row:
These are nicely pigmented and are great for brightening up any eye look. These did not have a ton of fall out.

Second Row:

These are nicely pigmented as well. The lavender shade in the palette is to die for. I experienced a little bit of chunkiness for the sliver shade(last in the picture). Other than that this row is good quality and quite unique.
Third Row:

Once I got to this row I was slightly more disappointment than with the last two rows. The brown shade(first shade in picture) lacked pigmentation and the 3rd shade has tons of fall out when  applied to my lid, so watch out for that. I love the last shade of this row. Its a more indigo shade which is a shade I rarely see in any eye shadow palette. Overall for me, this was the most disappointing row.

Last Row:
The colors in this row is the more common shades of this palette. The third shade is the more unique shade of this row. It is a more purplish taupe which is stunning on the lid. The last shade is a black with blue sparkles in it. I wish it was a solely matte black but I can appreciate the blue sparkles for a festive and sexy smokey eye. Overall this row is pigmented and the most wearable out of the whole palette.

In addition:

-This palette comes with a double ended brush which is very effective. One side is a synthetic flat eye shadow brush which comes in handy due to the texture of these shadows. The other side is more fluffy, flat eye shadow brush.

-A huge mirror that makes applying makeup easier(so this palette instantly become more travel friendly).

Final Thoughts:

While I think this is a overall decent palette, I do not see it being a must have of for me. If you are a person who loves jewel tone shades and shimmer then I can see you getting some use out of this. The shadows are pigmented and have a soft texture so expect some fall out.  This palette lacks matte shades(similar to Vice palettes) so that is minus for me because I have to bring in other shadows to complete my looks.  The packaging is great. The large mirror is a must have for me and most palettes lack this, so I happy that E.L.F included that in this palette. This palette is quite expensive compared to all of E.L.F's other products and the quality isn't any better than some of there other shadows. I do think this palette has more unique colors that are usually only seen in high end palettes. Overall,  I rate this a 6/10.

xoxo
